What a great week this has been! Sunny weather, fun events going on and YES I can comfortably get my jeans on and have been able to wear shorts and skinny tops, too!
I think the biggest temptation this week was all the yummy food and drinks I’ve been surrounded by. I went to a wonderful music event on Friday and really struggled not to grab a burger or a hot dog and wash it down with a cold lager or fizzy drink. To avoid temptation again the next day I got up early to have a boiled egg for breakfast and made a tuna salad to take with me and packed a big bottle of water in my bag. This stopped me getting too hungry or thirsty and helped me to avoid temptation; and it really worked! Fast food doesn’t look or smell as enticing when you’re not hungry.
To make the most of the lovely weather I’ve been outside every morning to start the day with a good workout. I’ve been going to my local park and using it as my gym. I love training outside – breathing in fresh morning air is invigorating and sets you up for the day!
Try my workout: Do a warm up lap around the park (about 200m), then sprint to the nearest bench to do 40 tricep dips. Next, sprint another bench and do 40 press ups on it. Do another lap around the park followed by 60 walking lunges. Sprint a lap of the park and then do 50 squats. To finish do 50 of your favourite abs exercise.
In our park there is a low and narrow wall, which I use to walk along to engage my core muscles to keep balance; I takes me right back to my gymnastic days! Every day I have found new ‘equipment’ in the park to use as my gym. You can use anything steps, walls or railings, and with a little imagination you can create some great routines.
My favourite part is the finish when I sit by the trees to do a slow yoga stretch and short mediation. I try to cement all my positive energy.
